Fun fact.... I hate flying. The idea of getting into a metal capsule piloted my a person I’ve never met taking my made-for-land body 35,000 feet into the air is.... terrifying.
The funny thing is, I know the statistics. I’m safer in the air. If I’m flying to Palm Springs, the chances of me getting in a crash are drastically less if I travel by plane.
Following Christ is kind of like getting on a plane.
You know getting on the plane is where it’s at. You know it’s a better, safer way to travel.
But it’s scary giving up control. Especially when losing would cost you, well, everything. After all, if you DO go down in a plane... well..... those odds aren’t good.
I kid you not as I typed that we hit some whacky turbulence. Freaking out 😱
So isn’t it a blessing to know that Jesus has ALREADY won?
We’ve already landed. We’ve seen the way the flight ends. We’re good.
Granted, it’s not easy. Baggage check and security is a nightmare. People are EVERYWHERE and you’re forced to sit close to people you wouldn’t normally be close to.
But that’s Church.
And another thing worth mentioning.... it was overcast in Tulsa this morning. Gloomy, just blah.
But when we got in the sky, we rose above it all.
And it was beautiful.
